Description:
When using PASS procedures for power or sample size determination, it is often desirable to save the settings of the procedure for future use. PASS has an easy-to-use system for saving and opening procedure settings files. These settings files are called templates. Template files can be moved, shared, renamed, or emailed.
When you wish to save a settings template file for the current procedure, either click the ‘Save As’ button, or go to ‘File’, and select ‘Save Template As’. The ‘Save Procedure Template’ window will open. From this window, you can select the folder and name the file. The filename extension for the file is the letter ‘t’ followed by the procedure number. Click ‘Save’ to save the template file.
The saved file includes all the procedure settings, including which reports are selected and the plot format settings. It does not, however, save the report that is produced when running the procedure. Reports can be saved as rich text files from the PASS Output screen.
You can load template files by first opening the procedure to which the template file corresponds. From the procedure window, click the ‘Open’ button, or go to file and select ‘Open Template’. The ‘Open Procedure Template’ window will display only those template files with the matching filename extension. Select the desired template file and click ‘Open’. The settings from the template file will appear in the procedure.
Example template files that contain the procedure settings for each example in the help documentation are installed with PASS. You can access these example templates by going to ‘File’ and selecting ‘Open Example Template’. In some cases it is helpful to find an example in the documentation that is similar to your scenario. The corresponding example template can be loaded, edited to fit your scenario, and then saved as a separate template file for future use.
