Description:
[Tip 1: Adjusting Output appearance]
There are some useful options for customizing the appearance of the output.
The user has the ability to add (or remove) lines to the titles to improve separation of report sections.
Title line color and text color for page headers, titles, and reports may also be specified individually.
These options are accessed by selecting “Options” from the File menu or Home menu of any of main windows of PASS software. On the System Options window, select the “Reports” tab to make the changes.
[Tip 2: 3D Plots]
When multiple values of more than one of the parameters are being considered, a 3D plot can be a very useful way to view the effect of all the parameters at once.
To best view a 3D plot, go to the Plots tab and check the “Live Edit” checkbox under 3D Plots. Then run the procedure.
The 3D Surface Plot Format window will open automatically.
The plot can be rotated to view the points from various angles. And other aspects of the plot can be edited.
When the OK button is pressed, the plot will be sent to the Output window as it currently appears.
The 3D plot cannot be rotated or edited from the Output window.
It can be viewed, saved, or printed by double-clicking it on the Output screen.
[Tip 3: Drop-Out Adjustment]
In PASS, the primary numeric report provides estimated sample sizes or powers, assuming all individuals participate in the study. For convenience, PASS gives the option to produce an additional report to account for dropouts.
Based on an assumed drop-out rate, PASS reports the sample size that would be needed so that the desired sample size would be achieved after dropouts are removed from the study.
This report is given by going to the Reports tab and checking the checkbox next to “Show Dropout-Inflated Sample Size Report.” When applicable, “Equal” or “Unequal” group dropout rates may be specified.
[Tip 4: Citation]
The proper citation for the use of PASS software is obtained by going to the Help menu, and clicking on “Citation”.
